Ninjas were farmers and common folk in Japan who were tired of the Samurai. They often attacked at night using guerrilla warfare tactics. They were basically Samurai killers.
In Japanese culture during the feudal era and the height of the Samurai power, the Samurai could pretty much do whatever they wanted too. They could kill anyone lower than them for simple disrespect and could choose anyone for their lover, even small children, including boys.
